Target is taking a page from the playbooks of budget-minded but design-focused brands like Ikea and Muji, and introducing a new line of 750-plus products for the home: Made by Design arrives in stores and online June 23. We can definitely get behind the line’s minimalist style, muted palette, and focus on durable materials. (Though we spied a fair amount of plastic in its offerings, we did also see a lot of products made of metal, wood, and natural materials). And, of course, we can’t quibble with Target’s price point. Here are some highlights for an organized home.
Above: A Råskog lookalike, the 3-Tier Metal Utility Cart comes in white and gray (shown); $30. Above: We like the simple, modern lines of the 8 Bin Shoe Organizer, which can be used horizontally, as pictured, or vertically. It’s available in white and natural (shown); $35. Above: A few Made by Design Closet Storage Organization pieces in one photo; $5 to $35. Note the coordinating hamper, bins, and hanging wardrobe organizers—all made from canvas; the Two-Shelf Horizontal Cube stacked on top of the 8 Bin Shoe Organizer, shown in white; and Wood Hangers (a set of four for $5). Above: This Over-the-Cabinet-Door Organizer reminds us of storage products by Yamazaki, the budget minimalist Japanese brand taking the US by storm. Store, say, cleaning products in the basket on one side of the door and hang paper towels or a kitchen rag on the rod on the other side; $15. Above: Another Yamazaki knock-off, the metal Kitchen Cabinet Organizer Basket comes in two sizes (the small is shown); $9 and $10. Above: Its Laundry Storage Organization line includes the Standard Ironing Board with Tray ($36); the Folding X-Frame Hamper ($20); the Collapsible Hamper with Laundry Bag ($19.99); and the triple bin version of the X-Frame Hamper ($30).
