Julie recently spotted an enviable home designed by Melbourne, Australia-based Studio Four. But it wasn’t the modernist, glass-encased architecture or the impressive blurring of the line between indoor and outdoor spaces or the simple, serene decor that caught her exacting eye (though all those features are, indeed, praise-worthy). It was the laundry room.
In this high-end home where every detail is considered (just look at the seamless niche created to accommodate air vents), what makes the laundry room truly stand out is the perfect, minimalist laundry line. But guess what? That laundry line isn’t actually a laundry line. It’s Ikea’s Dignitet Curtain Wire.

Above: The Dignitet Curtain Wire can be extended up to 197 inches. Anything longer than 55 inches requires Dignitet Supports for added reinforcement. For this project, though, the architects created a custom support in the form of a thin length of metal with a tiny hole on the bottom through which the wire is threaded.
