Another month, another new capsule collection from Ikea. This time, it’s a collaboration with cool kid and fashion designer Chris Stamp, of the LA-based minimalist streetwear label Stampd. Starting in May, Ikea’s US stores will carry his limited-edition Spänst line, which includes indoor basketball hoops ($34.99), LED light sticks ($39.99 each), and, naturally, skateboards ($89.99). I’m decidedly not his target audience, but I’m excited to see some really good storage pieces mixed into his street-chic collection that could work in any home—not just downtown flop pads. Here are some favorites.
Above: The Spänst Clothes Rack is made of lacquered solid ash and measures 45¼ inches wide and 66⅞ inches high; $149. Above: Stamp didn’t design the collection all by himself; he worked with frequent Ikea collaborator Maja Ganszyniec on some of the Spänst pieces. “We tried different approaches and materials until we ended up with the mesh fabric. Because it’s see-through it gives a nice visual effect depending on which angle you’re looking at it from,” says Ganszyniec, of the Spänst Wardrobe; $229. Above: Stamp earns street cred with his focus on storage for sneakerheads. “As a fashion designer, I know that people want to show other people their clothes, shoes and accessories,” explained Stamp. “Why spend a lot on a pair of sneakers and hide them in the closet?” The acrylic Spänst Shoe Boxes are $19.99 each. Above: The powder-coated steel Shoe Boxes come in white and black; $19.99 each. Above: Skateboarders (and parents of skateboarders)—take note! With the Spanst Shoe/Skateboard Rack installed in your entry, you no longer have to be mindful of runaway boards in your home; $69.99.
