Storage: High/Low Modular Bookshelves

Spotted recently: modular stacked shelving units, which allow you to create shelving systems tailored to your storage needs. Here are two options:

Above: Designed by Belgian-Dane Julien De Smedt of JDS Architects for Muuto, the Stacked Shelf system allows you to create a shelving unit customized to any space. There are three boxes offered but five shapes to work with, depending on how you position the two rectangular shapes. The boxes are connected with colorful steel clips available in green, white, or yellow. Prices start at $119 at Design Within Reach.

Above: Ikea’s DIY version of stacked shelving, featured in Livet Hemma, is made of wood boxes with painted interiors, fastened with ordinary office binder clips.
