I love the invisible mechanics behind the Baden Baden Towel and Blanket Hanger from Japanese design firm Time & Style: The rack is foldable, yet appears seamless and fixed. And it feels more like a well-made piece of furniture than a storage tool (thinking of it this way will also help with the sticker shock).
The piece is named after a German town known for its hot springs—Baden Wettenberg, in the southern part of the country. At once fluid (thanks to all the rounded edges) and solid (it’s made of maple), the hanger features four bars for storing blankets, towels, or clothing, and a leather strap to help keep it upright when open. It’s so beautifully crafted, you could use it in any room of your home.
