10 Favorites: Best of Ikea’s 2018 Collection

The 2018 Ikea catalog landed in our mailboxes not long ago, and after a committed thumb-through, this is what caught our eyes.

Svalnäs is Ikea’s new modular wall-mounted storage system along the lines of Danish designer Poul Cadovius’s Royal Shelving System released in 1948. (See our High/Low comparison.) Ikea’s is made of bamboo and fiberboard and combinations range in price from $26 (for two Wall Uprights and the smallest Shelf) to $570 for a whole-wall configuration. The Rattan Coffee Table from the Ikea Stockholm 2017 collection has been out since April, but it’s still worth our attention. This Rattan Cabinet is made of solid ash, pine, and rattan with brass exterior hardware, interior shelves, and magnetic-latch doors. We’ll admit it: When we shop at Ikea, we keep our eyes peeled for things that look more expensive than they are.
