Radical Downsizing: High/Low Mini Kitchens

There's something seductive about the idea of radical downsizing; the idea of living with less, a la Thoreau. Here are a few kitchens for the deaccessonists among us.

Above: Kitchen as Rubik's Cube: Designed in 1963 by the legendary impresario Joe Colombo, the Minicuine kitchen on wheels combines cooking, storage, and refrigeration—all in less than 11 cubic feet and requiring just one power cord. Italian company Boffi reintroduced the classic piece in 2007, updating it with Corian surfaces; it costs about $35,000; go to Boffi for dealer information.
