Come with us on a tour of the remodeled Queens rowhouse that Peggy Wang, editorial director of Buzzfeed Life, calls home. Wang enlisted Keren Richter of White Arrow Interior Design to gut the property and bring it into this century while retaining  some vintage charm - on a budget.

Richter and Wang collaborated closely on the renovation. Their goal? Brighten and update the space while restoring period details, all with cost in mind.

Subtle color: A vintage credenza turns modern thanks to paint—shades of pale pink and gray from Farrow & Ball.

The colorful living room is just off of the open kitchen; on the shelves is a collection of paperbacks, sorted according to color.

The small kitchen feels light and open, thanks to dark lower cabinets and, above, white walls with a single floating shelf.

A case study of high/low design: Wang’s kitchen features Ikea base cabinets done over in Farrow & Ball.

“We love a mix of old with new,” Richter says. “We respect the past but we’re not aiming to create a home that feels like a relic.”
