8 Favorites: Travel Coffee Mugs Our Editors Use and Love

Yeti Rambler Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Mug

If you have a hard time remembering to bring your reusable cup when you make a coffee run, I have some advice: Buy a travel coffee mug that you absolutely love, one that you actually look forward to using.

It’s taken me years to learn this. I’ve owned quite a few reusable cups in my day, but most were made of plastic and given to me as swag; they failed, in Kondo-speak, to spark joy. Last year, though, I spotted glass versions at my local coffee spot that were adorable. (Yes, adorable travel coffee mugs.) But they were expensive. And didn’t I already have a shelf full of reusable coffee cups? I resisted buying them.

In the meantime, I continued to not use the cups I already had.

Months later, I finally gave in and purchased the glass travel tumbler—and, lo and behold, it became far easier to remember to toss it into my bag before heading out the door.

Here are eight coffee tumblers and mugs that do a good job of keeping hot liquids contained—and look great while doing it. (Note that while each is shown in just one size, most come in multiple sizes.)

Zojirushi Stainless Steel Travel Mug
Above: Margot says that her daughter and husband both swear by Zojirushi’s 12-oz  Stainless Steel Travel Mug. What distinguishes it from other travel mugs is a tight-fitting safety-lock lid that keeps liquids hot longer and ensures it stays leak-proof. You can even toss it, filled, into your purse. It’s $20.99 on Amazon.
Keepcup Reusable Coffee Cup
Above: And here’s the glass travel tumbler that turned me into a better person. This 12-oz Keepcup Reusable Coffee Cup has a natural cork band (mine has a silicone band) for easy gripping. Bonus: It’s microwave-safe. The cup is $17.28 on Amazon.
Ember Temperature Control Travel Mug
Above: My husband has the non-travel version of Ember’s 12-oz Temperature Control Travel Mug and can attest to its clever technology. Rotate the dial on the base to select your temperature preference for your coffee or tea (you can also use the Ember app to do this), and the mug will maintain that temperature. It has a leak-proof lid, and the rechargeable battery lasts for about two hours; $149.95 on Amazon.
Klean Kanteen Vacuum Insulated Tumbler
Above: “I’m into good-old-fashioned, plain-and-simple Klean Kanteens,” says Annie. “No PVC, no lining. Since I’m fairly obsessive about the size and shape of my coffee mugs, I like that this one is pleasingly short and compact, not tall and slender like other travel mugs.” Klean Kanteen’s 8-oz Vacuum Insulated Tumbler is $17.95.
Hydroflask Double Wall Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Travel Coffee Mug
Above: Hydro Flask’s Double Wall Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Travel Coffee Mug is Kristina’s pick. “I love this thing! I use it for both hot and cold drinks. When I put ice cubes in it in the morning, they still haven’t melted by the evening. And it keeps my hot drinks too hot—that’s how insulated it is. Plus, the company is great. I dropped mine in my driveway and cracked the lid, and they sent me a new lid right away” It’s $24.95 on Amazon.
Yeti Rambler Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Mug
Above: I’m a fan of Yeti’s streamlined retro design. The 14-oz Rambler Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulated Mug is $24.99 on Amazon.
Contigo Snapseal Byron Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Travel Mug
Above: There are more than 9,000 reviews on Amazon for Contigo’s SnapSeal Byron Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Travel Mug, the vast majority of them good. People seem to like that it keeps liquids hot for a long time, that it’s easy to hold, and that it’s great-looking. I like it because it fits most car cup holders. It’s $14.79 on Amazon.
Ello Campy Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Travel Mug
Above: And here’s a pick based on aesthetics alone. Ello’s 16-oz Campy Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Travel Mug has an appealing vintage enamelware look. The company says it’s leak-proof and keep drinks hot for up to five hours; $12.95 on Amazon.
